While the onion already covered the better part of this debate, I think it would be interesting to follow all of the deeply-professed support of our troops as they start returning home (I have always wondered how one supports the troops that actually do the fighting when one doesn't support the actual fighting...Eddie Vedder is probably too short and rich to have ever been drafted, but is there any doubt as to whether he would have been an objector of conscience when his number was called?)
Perhaps we will have the chance to see some of that anti-war protester troop-love bear fruit. There are several bills in congress covering how we will treat the returning troops. I know this will shock some of you, but those who serve in our wars usually don't end up getting as far in the world as those who don't. Such legislation is probably a good idea.
When the returning troops start losing their jobs and being driven mad by nightmares, I am sure that those who love our troops will be holding rallys left and right that I can simply contribute to. I am sure I will simply be able to man their booth for a few hours at one of the numerous sit-ins in favor of the legislation supporting of returning troops. Why am I telling you this? I am sure you'll be there too.
