For the first time in many years, I got out among the common rabble and handed out fliers against the subway fare hike. I wasn't the best flier-hander-outer (I had some left over) but I did have a good time. People were generally very nice.

As if the fare hike wasn't enough, the MTA not only won't sell you single-rides or day-passes at the booth, they won't break a $20 for you if you want to buy one out of the machine.

I have been beating the commuter train topic to death here lately, but this is too good to pass up. Connecticut is cutting all but one commuter train to New London because the trains inconvenience summer yachters that want the coastal drawbridges left open. Delightful.
