Calistoga Needs A Trader Joes

DSCN0366.JPG

Had a most pleasant visit with Sassy Sista Ellie who was out in Cali for a conference. Actually, she spent the bulk of the week in SoCal at her conference, so she got the distinct pleasure of being in the middle of the wildfires. Up north I was able to provide her with a very small earthquake one night (it actually was more likely an aftershock from the biggun in San Jose last week.). Then to top it off, my house was hit again by 'The Mad Pooper' - a mystery feline who leaves gifts in high-traffic areas, usually in the dark of night. Never let it be said I don't know how to throw a party.

Ellie and I went up.to the Napa Valley since Ellie is really the only one in the fam who knows squat about wine. I don't even know enough to know most tastings end at 4. This means no actual tasting took place. Even the Night Train vineyard closed early. Sad. At the end of the day we still partook of good livin' in that Saturday was a spectacular late Indian Summer day. Say what you want about Napa, but their weather is usually perfect. I need to find a way to move up North where the weather is literally perfect. The only problem is the whole car ownership thingie (which I am enjoying my break from.)

The fall has been pretty good weatherwise, but living along the bay means things stay a little too cold for my liking. I think I need to move to San Jose and work where I can remain car-free. Keep in mind friends: car-free = care-free.

Anyway, I have been busy of late, making me neglectful of this here weblog. Please hang with me, I will get back to regular posts soon. I have some important backlog stuff to do (Vegas & Tejas not the least of them) and then I think I have a handle on where I want to go with things. I think some of the new stuff will be a relief from the long and circular stuff that has beset this poor little log. I have made huge progress in getting my new computer setup at home, which should prove a huge help in keeping shite organized. As always, you'll have to take my word for it. Ha!

I am off to the wilds of long island for a conference. I have no doubt there will be teambuilding exercises, small-group discussion, and networking. Every time life feels like it is flying by, there will always be a professional conference to make it seem insufferable.
