I Woulda Worn Martha Quinn Like A Feedbag

The internet is now just getting good. Between the Hype Machine, and the sites it leads to, the old Napster model is finally giving way to a curated-MP3-availability model. Through You Tube and the other tech that makes distributed content possible, it is becoming possible for anyone to make media available to anyone else, and this is proving to be an amazing thing.

Yes, my new story is that the "indie" music scene has stopped being as intensely awesome as it was for the last few years, but even at half strength, there is plenty of good music out there to be had (the last 3 or 4 years have been as good for music as almost any other 3 to 4 years - at least within the realm of what I like.) I am too old perhaps to have the time, energy or inclination to make full use of all this stuff, but if you spend a few weeks reading all the music and culture weblogs out, you will see that the tech and content is in good hands. The kids are alright. I will try resisting the temptation to turn my humble weblog into a doddering old man's music weblog, but being able to post videos and music I like is going to be very very tempting for me.

Especially in cases like now when it seems that a new Wolf Parade album is on the way. The first one - Apologies To Queen Mary - is end-to-end awesome, and so far, Spencer Krug has not failed my ears yet. I still think he is near-genius. In hot anticipation of the new one, I am going to post what I consider another one of the best videos ever made (I think I will put it in my personal top 25), which is for I'll Believe In Anything. Enjoy.
