On The Road Again, Again...

Greetings from Nueva York. Another 48-hour adventure in my other home. I love NYC, but as usual, too little time to do anything but check in, work, check out, fly home. I really am beginning to hate these trips. It could be a host of other reasons, but I am starting to have anxiety attacks the night before I fly. I really can work myself up because I just simply don’t want to go. I want to be at home. I have no rational explanation for this. It has nothing to do with NYC since every time I do go, I end up feeling like I never should have left. I suspect it is a mix of the work I end up having to do and the fact that I despise the way in which my company handles travel and paying me back for its costs. Since I basically need to avoid work-related discussions on this little weblog, I will leave it at that.

So the Family-Reunion-via-Archipelago rolls on! This time my oldest sister rolls into town with her fiancé, and boy oh boy did they luck out in the weather department. You literally cannot have better weather than San Fran Indian Summer, and this past weekend was the best of it. I gave them a quick tour of the East Bay out in my hoodie, and we made a trip to the Marin Headlands, which is one of my favorite places on earth.

Not only is the weather perfect, but the fall bird migration is at its peak, and on my first visit of the fall to the Headlands, another little birdy was in the air. Apparently someone who owns a blimp decided to take it out to offer joy rides this weekend. I think my sis said it cost something like $500 for an hour for a ride around the bay and over the Golden Gate. I am sure it is beautiful and all, but I am plenty happy with the view available from high atop Hawk Hill in the Marin Headlands (a place I surely want a pinch of my ashes scattered when the time comes – someone remind me to do an entry on where the ashes should go!)

So Saturday I had the chance to hang with the sis and the bro-in-law-intended, which ended up being a perfect way to take advantage of a perfect weather weekend. He has lived in Cali before, and she has been out to NorCal a few times before, so it was less about the touristy stuff and more about just getting out and soaking in the weather. Nothing wrong in that. They were out for a long weekend, and then heading back to NorCarolina. Perhaps I can get back out there sometime during the holidays. That's where the nephews will be, and let's not forget, they do have that BBQ going for them. Good living y’all.
