We're breaking up the band, man! Summer 2010 has a way to go, but school starts early in Cali, so after Quinn and I hit Space Camp this weekend, it is time to get the lad's butt into a desk! His older bro is now graduated, and has no particular plan to get back to school this fall, so he can hang here or down in SoCal as is his wont.
I am excited to go to Space Camp, though (and I admit this is out there) I will miss my doggies. Miss Taylor, the nephew's dog, is heading down to his new house in SoCal, and with her departure, the ark will be reduced just to the permanent quadrupeds. She is a mighty nice gal, and we will be missing her. I think she has come to dig NorCal, and our little slice of it - she certainly knows how to have a good time when off-leash.
Space camp will keep me from kitties and doggies a bit longer than we are now used to. They will be having fun and able to stay home, so I ain't too worried they will be sweatin' their setup too harsh. Not to mention that the house will be somewhat less hectic. I did very well with my summer guests, and all things considered, things never really frayed to any particular degree. My casa isn't well-suited to such close-quarter living for so many, so I must say (and no offense if my guests are reading) it will be welcome to get the old routine back. As I remind myself from time to time -as often as it is true - "I like my little life".
When I get back, I and my doggies will be starting out summer vacation fer reals. I have decided to keep Chiquita come what may, and so it is time for us to get out and see as much Cali as we can. I also want to visit with some friends newly moved west. There is good living to be had with fam, and sans fam. The key is balance y'alls!
The party really hasn't stopped, so it would be wrong to imply that the party really starts when I get back. I will say that we now have a new base of operations available in SoCal, which opens up our weekend options greatly. I expect that to pay many dividends. It is also nice - literally for the first time since I was 20 years old - to live in the same state as at least SOMEONE in my family, especially now that we have added a fine new lady-doggie to the clan. The party can't, won't, and don't stop - however, it now displaces more ugly simply by virtue of its amplified size.
As always - details to follow.
